Bielefeld used to be a center of the linen weaving industry.
This was the main argument to propose a large „Rag out of Stone“, checkered with stone-lines in different colores unfolded as the new surface around the cityhall, defining the importance of the building ensemble sited on it. A series of „Greenery-Colums“ is defining the edges of the rug in the third dimension, creating a foreground to the buildings behind.
