Provisional Architecture

since 1967

Provisional Architecture is a medium of communication to prove public reaction by confrontation with architectural folies, fragments and other temporary installations in urban circumstances.

The principle of „trial and error“  is  an important approach in provisional processes of urbanity and give an open end to the destiny of time based architectural interventions. The „Schräge Ebene“ (Inclined Plane) existed one month on Naschmarkt in Vienna in 1976 and disappeared. „Rahmenbau“ (Framework) was errected for three month at documenta 5 in Kassel 1972. Due to positive perception by the public the frame is still installed at „Schöne Aussicht“ at Friedrichsplatz.
